Biography
Sonia Hardie
The composer of YellowKat’s music Sonia Hardie,
is no stranger to the music performance scene. Having played
many musical instruments throughout her childhood Sonia has
found her true calling in writing and performing children’s
music. Sonia studied Primary Education at both Sydney University
and Charles Sturt University giving her a solid grounding in
early childhood education. |
 |
After having 2 children of her own, writing songs came naturally to
her. Encouragement to record and produce these songs came from friends,
family, fellow educators and from all who heard these catchy natural
tunes. Sonia’s experience includes both instrumental
and acting/singing performances. Sonia has played with many traditional
bands and ensembles including Sutherland Police Citizens Youth concert
band, Moruya Brass Band, and various smaller ensembles performing
live. On stage Sonia has been a part of many amateur musical society
productions including playing Svetlana in Chess and an Angel in
Anything Goes. She has also performed as Snug in A Midsummer Nights
Dream with the Cronulla Arts Society.
Sonia is joined in her live shows by Gabrielle Thompson (the YellowKat!)
and Anton Koritni and keyboards.
Gabrielle Thompson
Gabby started dancing shortly after she began walking, training
under Helen de Paul at the Helen de Paul Dance Centre from 1979 –
1991. She learnt all forms of dance – acrobatting, ballet, jazz
and tap and has taught jazz and tap to children and tap to adult beginners.
Following her HSC Gabby worked as a professional dancer for Dance
Encore Productions for 5 years touring Japan, being promoted to
Dance Captain/Manager for the last 2 years. Upon retiring from overseas
work, and during her undergraduate University Science degree, Gabby
continued to perform and worked for Six Pak Productions in variety
shows around Sydney clubs and RSLs. As part of this work she also
stage managed the weekly Ethnic Shows which performed at Canterbury
Leagues Club.
More recently Gabby took part in the Engadine Musical Society’s
production of Chicago (2003), the St Vincent’s Hospital Revue
revival (2004) and then in 2005 she was Co-Producer/Choreographer
for the St Vincent’s Hospital Revue.
Anton Koritni
Anton Koritni is one of the most dynamic and talented singer/piano-players
ever to sit in front of 88 ebony and ivory keys. Coming from a musical
family, Anton early in his career achieved a high distinction for
the A.Mus.A whilst working with many great Australian artists such
as Human Nature, Mark Gable (Choirboys), Jack Jones (Southern Sons),
Mark Williams, Nathan Cavaleri and Debra Burns to name a few.
Anton’s talent was recognised and he joined the Jimmy Barnes
band as pianist/keyboardist/back up vocalist. This opportunity opened
the door to working closely with some of Australia’s finest
musicians; Dave Leslie (Baby Animals), Mark McEntee (Divinyls),
York Sherrit (Diesel) and Phil Small (Cold Chisel).
In 2001 Anton was Assistant Musical Director and a solo performer
in the rock musical ‘Shout’. The show toured the country
with a successful 11 month run. Since then Anton has worked overseas
and on cruise liners averaging 200 gigs a year.
